In Search of Winter Whales

The gray whales were migrating past the Oregon Coast this week, so we headed to Indian Beach at Ecola State Park to see what we could see see see.

The weather was so nice at the coast. It was even warmer than it was in Portland. We've really been spared the deep freeze the rest of the country is getting this winter.

We didn't see any whales, but we did find the mother lode of sand dollars.
This was just the beginning-- we came home with 12 of these.

Anthony loves the beach, just like his Dad. He suggested we go back Monday morning, and I thought that was a good idea, but dammit I had to go to work!

It would be fun to take a boat out to go whale watching sometime. They know where to find the pods, so you're pretty much guaranteed to see some.

But just getting out there and running on the beach was pretty great too!
